When:
On August 2022, the Federal government launched Canada’s first Action Plan aimed at advancing rights and equality for Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and additional sexually and gender diverse (2SLGBTQI+) people in Canada.
At our event on Thursday,
February 9, members will hear from Martine Roy, Activist & Regional
Director, 2SLGBTQ+ Business Development at TD Bank, and Chair of the
LGBT Purge Fund, who will give a brief background of the LGBT purge
class action law suit that led to the official apology in 2017 and creation of
the Purge Fund, which led to the Action Plan and from Marc-Andre Millaire, the recently appointed Director
General of the 2SLGBTQI+ Secretariat at Women and Gender Equality Canada,
who will present an overview of the federal government’s Action Plan and the
Secretariat’s role in promoting 2SLGBTQI+ equality, protecting 2SLGBTQI+
rights, and addressing discrimination against 2SLGBTQI+ communities. Members
will have an opportunity for Q&A and discussion after the presentations
from Martine and Marc-Andre.
