Out on Air - A discussion on LGBTQ visibility, awareness and breaking down stigma in the sports media industry

A panel discussion about LGBTQ+ visibility, awareness and breaking down stigma within the sport media industry with three national network sports broadcasters, reporters, on air hosts who are also advocates within (and members of) the LGBTQ+ community:

  • Anastasia Bucsis is a two time (2010 and 2014) Olympian in the sport of Long Track Speed Skating and now the on air host of a CBC Sports podcast "Player's Own Voice" where Anastasia brings her unique backstory and voice to conversations with high performance athletes and their stories and issues.
  • Devin Heroux is  a Journalist / Reporter with CBC /Radio Canada for over 10 years and has been a cross platform contributor for curling coverage as well as other sports and events and most recently with CBC Sports for the World Youth Olympic Games of 2020 in Switzerland.
  • Scott MacArthur is a multi-platform media contributor working in the Sport media industry for close to two decades as a reporter, on air anchor,  host and play by play announcer at various media outlets including Rogers TV; Chum Radio; TSN;  Bell Media; and now at the Sportsnet 590 The Fan as host of their Morning Sports Talk Radio show "Lead Off with Ashley, Ziggy and Scotty Mac".
