Since the mid-1960s, TD Bank has acquired nearly 10,000 works of art by Canadian artists. Inspired by Mies van der Rohe's design for TD Centre (erected in 1967), Allen Lambert, then President and Chairman of the Board, proposed that the Bank's incredible new spaces deserved great art. With the help of former Director of the Art Gallery of Ontario, Martin Baldwin, the collection began. Today, nearly 50 years later, the bank is still proudly collecting contemporary art from across Canada.
